Treating Chigger Bites
There are a few common myths about chiggers that we would like to address. First, they do not burrow under your skin nor do they drink your blood. Chiggers do not carry diseases, but the bites themselves can get infected.
Treatments for Chigger Bites
If you suspect you’ve been bitten by chiggers, hop in the shower and bathe as soon as possible. If itching becomes bothersome, apply anti itch medications (topical) like hydrocortisone cream, Calimine Lotion or try rubbing bites with a slightly dampened aspirin. Oatmeal baths can also be helpful. For severe itching, take an over the counter benadryl tablet.
