New York Mom Takes on P&G

A New York mom finds herself in the middle of a lawsuit with Proctor and Gamble to the tune of $750,000.

Christy Prunier’s 8 year old daughter, Willa, approached her complaining about her “babyish” soap which gave her mom an idea. She soon created a skin care line for preteens called “Willa”, named after her daughter for coming up with the idea.

When Proctor and Gamble found out about the skin care line, they determined that it sounded too much like their “Wella” product line. P&G immediately sent out a cease and desist letter which Prunier ignored.

This isn’t the first time, nor will it be the last that huge companies force start ups to drop their product line. Most don’t have the funds to go up against these corporate giants.

The case over the Willa product line will be heard in October to decide the trademark issue.
